구한말에 제작된 것으로 보이는 동제(銅製) 사각 주전자입니다. 정육면체에 가까운 동체 위에 평평한 뚜껑이 있고, 뚜껑은 사슬로 동체에 연결하여 분실을 방지하였습니다. 동체의 한 모서리에는 물이 나오는 출수구가 있습니다. 견고한 사용을 위하여 동으로 제작되었으며, 표면에는 시간의 흐름에 따른 부식 흔적이 남아 있습니다.
뚜껑에는 꽃 모양 손잡이가 부착되어 있는데, 대한제국기부터 황실의 상징으로 사용된 이화문(李花紋)과 유사한 특징을 보여줍니다. 대한제국기를 전후하여 궁중 물품에는 이화문이 사용되었으며, 이러한 특징을 통해 이 유물이 궁중 양식의 흐름 속에서 제작된 것으로 유추해 볼 수 있습니다.
이 유물은 운현궁에서 발견되었다고 전해집니다. 운현궁은 흥선대원군을 비롯한 조선 말기 왕실 인물들이 실제로 생활하던 공간이며, 명성황후는 삼간택(三揀擇) 이후 머무르기도 하였습니다. 운현궁에는 다양한 궁중 물품이 출입하였고, 이 주전자 역시 당시 궁중에서 사용되었을 것으로 추정됩니다.

此壶推测制作于旧韩末时期。壶身近似立方体结构，顶部置有一平盖，壶盖以铜链与壶身相连，以防遗失。壶身一侧棱角处设有出水口。整体以铜材制成，坚实耐用，表面留有岁月流逝所产生的自然腐蚀痕迹。
壶盖上饰有花形提钮，其造型特征与大韩帝国时期皇室象征纹样—李花纹相近。李花纹自大韩帝国初期起广泛用于宫中器物，由此可推测此壶亦是在宫廷风格影响下制作的器物。
据传，该器物出土于云岘宫。云岘宫是兴宣大院君等朝鲜末期王室人物的实际生活场所，明成皇后在三拣择之后曾暂居于此。云岘宫中器物流通频繁，种类亦十分丰富，故推测此壶亦可能为当时宫中用品之一。

This bronze square kettle is presumed to have been crafted during the late Joseon period. It features a nearly cubic body topped with a flat lid, which is secured to the body by a chain to prevent loss. A spout is located at one corner of the body. Constructed from bronze to ensure durability, the surface bears traces of corrosion resulting from the passage of time.
The lid features a flower-shaped knob that closely resembles the Ihwamun (Plum Blossom Crest), which began to be used as the symbol of the Imperial family during the Korean Empire period. Given that the Plum Blossom design was frequently applied to royal court items around the time of the Korean Empire, this characteristic suggests that the artifact was produced following the stylistic trends of the royal court.
This artifact was reportedly discovered at Unhyeongung (Royal Residence). Unhyeongung served as the actual living quarters for royal figures of the late Joseon Dynasty, including Heungseon Daewongun, and Empress Myeongseong is recorded to have stayed there following the Samgantaek (final selection of the Queen). As various court goods circulated within Unhyeongung, it is presumed that this kettle was used in the royal court during that period.
